Shots in this scene
Assign each camera to a shot via the camera's selection bar. Whether shots run simultaneously or in sequence doesn't matter here — that's a schedule question, not a blocking one.
Date, time, duration and weather carry over when you add a new scene — the next scene starts when this one wraps.
A free canvas for visual thinking — collect stills, colors, sounds and references.

Getting things on the board

Drag tiles from the Board library, drop image files straight onto the canvas, or copy any picture (ShotDeck, Frameset, a browser tab) and paste with Cmd/Ctrl+V. Images take a caption via the selection bar. Links title themselves after their URL and fetch video previews automatically. Audio cards play with a tap on ▸. Files (PDFs get a first-page preview) travel with the project.

Working the canvas

Scroll to zoom, drag empty space to pan, F zooms to fit. The marquee tool M drags a box around several objects — then drag any one of them to move the whole group (duplicate/delete work on the group too). Double-click notes, text, to-do items and table cells to edit in place — Tab/Enter flow through table cells, Enter chains new to-do items. Tables grow like a spreadsheet: drag the corner handle to add or remove rows and columns. Drag anything onto the trash can at the bottom to delete it (undo works). Only photos rotate here; everything else stays straight.

Script and storyboard side by side — write left, break down right.

Script blocks

Drop a Film script or two-column AV script block from the library and double-click to write (left half = VIDEO, right half = AUDIO on AV blocks). Import… in the selection bar accepts .txt, .fountain, Final Draft .fdx and .pdf.

Break down

Select a script block and hit Break down: FLOOR detects scenes (INT./EXT. headings on film scripts, paragraphs on AV), creates a scene board per scene with the cast placed on it, and stacks linked storyboard rows next to your script — title | reference image | shot description. Open scene ↗ jumps to that board in the Shot designer, where every camera maps to one shot.

Select a storyboard row and hit the + chip below it (or "+ Row below" in the selection bar) to chain the next shot idea of that scene — everything underneath moves down automatically, so later scenes never get overlapped.

All the moodboard tools (notes, images, to-dos, tables, files, audio, paste, trash) work here too.

The production board — everything the shoot day needs, spatially arranged.

Production cards

The Day header card is the call-time block of a call sheet: pick the date in its selection bar, click the big general call (plus shooting call and est. wrap) to type times, and hit Sun from location ↻ — sunrise and sunset compute from the Location card's place. Production info and Location are field cards — label:value rows, click a value to edit, Tab hops fields, empty fields show light placeholders. Production info is a live window onto the production itself; each Location card holds one location (address, parking, power, nearest hospital, notes). Checklist drops a real to-do list born from a template — camera dept, grip & light, location, wrap, or blank. Day schedule is a column card born with the classic timeline. The Weather (live) card fetches a real forecast: give it a place and a date in its selection bar and hit Fetch ↻ (forecasts reach ~16 days ahead, free GFS-backed data from Open-Meteo).

Crew, cast & client — the People registry

The Crew, Cast and Client cards are live views of one per-production People registry: add a person on any card and they exist everywhere; edit a phone number once and every card updates. Click a cell to edit, Tab/Enter flow through the fields (Enter on the last row chains a new person), the + chip adds a row, the × chips remove one, and dragging a row's dotted grip reorders it. Paste list… (selection bar) imports a whole contact list: one person per line, FLOOR picks out name / role / phone / email / call time and shows a preview before adding. The registry will feed the call-sheet generator next phase. Drop map screenshots or location photos on the board; Export turns the whole board into a one-page PDF you can send as a call sheet today.

FloorBoard — the floor is yours

Six floors, one production. Pick a floor below; the guide opens on the one you are working on.

Ground floor · Mood

A free board for tone, references and colour. Drag images, GIFs, video, audio and files onto it (or use the + Media button in the toolbar), pin links, write sticky notes, text and columns, and group things in sub-boards. Colour cards hold palettes; the pencil draws freehand — lovely with a pencil.

Everything on a board can be moved, resized, rotated, locked, duplicated and sent to front or back from its selection bar. Double-tap a note or text to write in it.

1st floor · Script

Import script… takes a screenplay (.txt, .fountain, .pdf, Word .doc / .docx) or an AV table exported from Excel / Sheets (.tsv / .csv). The script lands on this floor as a script block, with a storyboard row per shot next to it; every scene heading — or every SC number — also becomes a scene in the Shot designer. Write script… lets you paste or type one.

The AV script card is a table: SC · TIME (adds up) · SEC · stills · audio · video · regie notes, plus your own columns. Drop an image on a row for a still. Break down → scenes keeps scenes in step with the rows; a removed row renames its scene "old" rather than deleting your work. Export the script or the AV script as PDF or .docx from the selection bar, or from the Production floor's Documents.

Storyboard rows chain frames per scene; scene stills also show in the Shot designer's Scene info.

2nd floor · Shot designer

The floor plan of every scene. 1 unit = 1 cm, grid dots are 50 cm apart. Wall drags a wall (snaps to 90° and to wall ends), Room drags four at once; door, window and opening go on a wall with a tap, then slide along it. Select an opening for its width and door swing. Walls can be curved by their middle handle and locked so set dressing stays put.

Cameras, cast and light come from the library on the left. Purple handles set a camera's field of view and reach; the selection bar has lens presets, framing, support (tripod, gimbal, dolly…) and a shot name — all of that flows into the Shot list on the 3rd floor. Drop a still on a camera for a director's-viewfinder frame.

Movement: → Add movement, then + Move point. Every point is a keyframe with its own facing and framing. Dolly track, jib and technocrane are real rigs: a camera dropped on them rides along. ▶ plays all movement.

Turning in place: select a camera or a light → ↻ Animate direction. Each teal dot is a direction key; drag it to aim. The camera pans, the light swings, and neither moves.

Rigs: drop a camera on a dolly cart, a slider or a car mount and it rides along, with its own direction keys on top. Drop a car mount or a jib on a car and it snaps to the front, hood, roof, back or a side. The selection bar moves it to another spot, and Step off takes it off.

LED attachments: on the LED light, the modifier menu has a spotlight attachment (lens angle, gobo or cutters) and a fresnel lens with spot ⟷ flood.

Setups (Scene info panel) are lighting or blocking variants of the same scene. The sun button sets time of day and north. Underlay an image (a satellite capture, a scan) behind the walls to trace a real location — or open the Room library (house icon, top right) to save this room or insert a scouted one.

3rd floor · Shot list

A board with one shot list card per shoot day. It is an AV-style table in shooting order: SC · SHOT · START · MIN · CAMERA · LENS · MOVE · stills · video · audio · regie notes. + Shots… pulls every camera from your scene boards with its camera, lens and support prefilled (still editable; Sync ↻ refreshes what you did not retype).

Add Break, Setup and Company move rows with minutes; START counts from the day's call, so the wrap time is always visible. Drag rows by their grip into order; tap a row and use → Day 2 to move it to another day. PDF exports the day (or all days) in your document style; .docx gives a Word table.

4th floor · Budget

Laid out like a quote: pre-production, production, post-production and variable costs, each with as many lines as you need (qty × rate, with a note). Standard lines drops the usual items for a phase; From crew / cast list takes people from the registry with their role, qty = number of shoot days; Gear from boards lists what is on the scene boards. Drag lines between phases.

Set a target per phase, a contingency % and VAT %; the cards show where you stand. Export a quote-style PDF or CSV.

5th floor · Production

The producer's floor. Documents (top of the library) lists every exportable document — scripts, AV scripts, prop and gear lists, call sheets, shot list, budget — with PDF / .docx / CSV buttons, and STYLE sets the accent colour, header, logo and footer every PDF uses.

Production cards: Day header (date, calls, sunrise / sunset, locations in visiting order), Crew, Cast and Client lists (one shared people registry with real roles), Location and Production info, Weather, the Day schedule strip, Prop list and Gear list, and the live Call sheet that composes them — export it as an A4 document or mail it to crew, cast or client.

The prop list only holds what travels with you: add rows yourself or Pick from boards…; × removes a row, Remove ticked clears the packed ones.

Rooms & scouting

The Room library (house icon, top right) keeps every space you scouted, across productions: walls with doors, windows and openings, plus the furniture that belongs to the location. In the Shot designer, Save this scene as a room stores what you drew; Insert places a saved room in any scene, optionally replacing its walls.

Scans arrive here too: the FloorBoard Scout app measures rooms with LiDAR on Pro iPhones and iPads, and with the camera (AR) on every other device — less precise, still a real plan. Both are labelled by their source in the library.

On the iPad

One finger drags an object or, on empty floor, pans. Two fingers pinch to zoom. Tap to select; the selection bar appears above the object. ☰ and ☷ collapse the side panels for a wide canvas. With a pencil, drawing walls, ink and moving things is precise; your palm is ignored while the pencil is down.

The small ⓘ at the bottom left shows or hides the tool hint. Keyboard shortcuts only matter with a keyboard attached — connect one and the Shortcuts tab appears here.
